Startup " Personalized hair care' firm, Prose just closed on an impressive $18 million Series B funding round led by Insight Venture Partners. This latest investment brings the total raised since the company's launch in January 2018 to $25 million.

The company, Prose, plans to use proceeds to boost its in-house data science teams and to make added investments in Research and Development.

Prose is the Brainchild of Co-founder and CEO, Arnaud Plas, R&D Advisor, and Co-Founder, Catherine Taurin, CTO and Co-Founder, Nicolas Mussat and Co-Founder and VP of Sales, Paul Michaux.

The Company bills itself as a "custom hair care brand" that offers consumers freshly-made products to meet their unique hair and scalp needs.

The firm takes a consultative approach in selling hair care products. Through its online store, prose has been able to collect profiles of some half a million consumer profiles, with various data points pertaining to hair types, allergies, effects of UV rays on various hair types, etc.

The company uses this massive amount of data to help perfect its computer vision algorithms.

Prose's proprietary technology allows customers to the company's website to answer a few questions about their hair and hair care needs. Questions like hair texture, how it responds to humidity, and scent preferences.

Prose's algorithm comes up with a specific formula that is then made in a New York lab, and shipped to the customer.
