5 Effective Social Media Marketing Tips for Small business

You can be very successful at social media marketing if you try to focus on a single niche.

The strategic use of quality content and a sound social media marketing game plan can dramatically increase awareness of your product offering(s). There is, however, a steep learning curve without prior experience.

A basic understanding of social media marketing will help ease some of the challenges one can face initially.

Following these 5 points will help build a foundation that will serve your customers and your brand.

1. Specialize

You can be very successful in social media marketing if you try to focus on a single niche. Provide quality content to this group and see your bottom line increase. Do not try to be a jack-of-all-trades. Instead, build yourself up as an authority in a single vertical, allowing folks to follow, like and share your content.

2. Provide Quality Content

This should be a no-brainer, but I have seen a lot of marketers totally ignore this simple rule. Quality is better than quantity here. Better to have a small, hardcore following than a large follower base who do not care about our content. So try not to buy Twitter followers or Facebook likes for that matter.

3. Learn to be patient

Success in social media marketing will not come overnight. A commitment to a long-term strategy is the best way to proceed here. Don't get me wrong, there are instant success stories out there but they are few and far between. Share quality content, and share frequently. Give your strategy some time to take hold and produce the results you seek.

4. Produce Shareable Content

I have witnessed this phenomenon myself. If you produce quality relevant content, your followers will share with their own followers on Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin etc. Thus increasing your brand reach.

5. Copy the winners

Do you know of anyone in your space who seems to have a bunch of followers and a crazy buzz online? If so then try to study their methods and imitate them. Watch what kinds of content they post and what times they typically post new content. This can help you find your way. Imitate the moves of those who are "winning" in your field.

Reach out to some of them for tips and any help they can offer. You will be pleasantly surprised at how receptive some will be to helping you get the market reach your business needs.
