If you have ever worked for a well-established company, then you have ( at one point or another ) sent an email from an email address formatted as follows: username@companyname.com.



When sending emails with this format, in one version or another, which includes the company name after the "@" sign, then you were/or are using a custom domain email address. A custom domain is unlike most free email domains lie @gmail, @yahoo, @hotmail, etc. You may have already used before.


Most of us have probably signed up to receive promotional or informational emails from organizations. These kinds of emails are usually sent out to a bunch of people at once. These are known as bulk mail. We get them all the time, from organizations of all types. We get them from our local church, NPR , The Washington post, etc.
